Puppendoktor Gottlieb Helfrich staunt nicht schlecht, als er ein seltsames Wesen mit Zottelhaar und Eselsohren aus dem Bach fischt: Schluri Schlampowski. Ein Sturm hat ihn von der Insel Tohuwabohu hergeweht. Helfrich beschließt kurzerhand, den quirligen Zwerg bei sich aufzunehmen. Davon sind seine Mitbewohner, die Puppe Grete Petete, der alte Roboter Roberto Blech und Teddybär Brumm, alles andere als begeistert. Denn Schluri ist schlampig, frech und hat obendrein eine Vorliebe für rohe Zwiebeln und Schlammbäder.
