Following Hershel Jackson's suicide, Holmes and Watson find themselves rather unwillingly aboard the 'Lady Jane' and thus embark on the sea voyage to South Africa. Whilst Holmes seems to enjoy the crossing, Watson suffers from seasickness and the associated nausea. But Holmes's new acquaintance Mr Vogt knows a remedy. Moreover, as an archaeologist, he seems to harbour a particular passion for the great Vikings. Meanwhile, a bestial murder occurs aboard the 'Lady Jane', and Holmes and Watson face new puzzles...
