One of the most striking examples of Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin's work was 'The Tale of How One Peasant Fed Two Generals' (1869). By the will of fate, two generals end up on an island on which there is no civilization. And these noblemen, who have not been inclined to work in their lives, accustomed, they can't even get food for themselves. It becomes clear to everyone that the generals' days are numbered, but a simple man comes to the rescue, who easily gets them food, thereby saving them from death. Well, and the generals ultimately don't really need a man thank you.
