'Viy' is a mystical story by Nikolai Gogol, first published in his collection 'Mirgorod' (1835). The title of the story is the name of the Slavic male demonic creature with whom he is associated plot. Finding himself in the witch's house, the seminarian-philosopher Khoma Brut barely breaks free from her hands and tries to forget what happened, like a bad dream. But the rector orders him to read prayers for three days at the coffin of the dead young lady, who later turned out to be the very witch whom Khoma did not meet I wasn't going to do it for any amount of money.
