Ihnen allen gemeinsam ist, dass sie sich im Anschluss an die Tat, an nichts mehr erinnern können. Der Meisterdetektiv ist sich schnell sicher, dass dies die Handschrift Professor Moriartys ist. Doch bei Moriarty ist nichts so, wie es anfänglich scheint. Schon sehr schnell wird klar, dass der diabolische Professor noch etwas ganz anderes im Sinn hat.
