Sie mussten tot sein. Von Tina Williams und den Bennett-Zwillingen fehlte jede Spur. Als der Außenseiter Jerome Monk bei dem Überfall auf ein viertes Mädchen gefasst wird und die Morde gesteht, sind alle erleichtert. Ein Albtraum scheint zu enden. Doch Monk weigert sich zu verraten, wo die Opfer begraben sind. Bis in den Sümpfen von Dartmoor eine Leiche gefunden wird und David Hunter Tina Williams identifizieren kann. Eine großangelegte Suchaktion nach den anderen beiden Mädchen endet jedoch in einem Desaster. Zehn Jahre später bricht Jerome Monk aus dem Hochsicherheitsgefängnis aus und scheint sich an allen, die damals an der Suche beteiligt waren, rächen zu wollen.
