'Around the World in Eighty Days' (French: Le tour du monde en quatre-vingts jours) is an adventure novel by the French writer Jules Verne (1828-1905), which tells about the journey of the eccentric and phlegmatic Englishman Phileas Fogg and his French servant Jean Passepartout around of the world, undertaken as a result of one business couple for a large sum of money. The novel was written in 1872, and on November 6 of the same year, the first chapters of Jules Verne's novel 'Around the World in 80 Days' appeared on the pages of the French daily newspaper 'Le Temps'.
