Im Nibelungenland hat Siegfried gefährliche Abenteuer erlebt. Er tötete den Drachen Schilbung, bezwang den Riesen Nibelung und besiegte den mächtigen Zwerg Alberich. Aber seit er die schöne Kriemhild gesehen hat, kennt er nur ein Ziel: Er möchte die Schwester des Königs zur Frau. Doch Gunther ist damit nicht einverstanden. Er will erst Königin Brünhild von Island gewinnen.
