Onno ist Fischer. Er lebt mit seiner Frau Olga auf einer Hallig und verbringt seine Zeit am liebsten ganz allein auf See. Doch plötzlich wird er seekrank und kann nicht mehr mit seinem Boot hinausfahren. Da beschließt Olga kurzerhand den Job ihres Mannes zu übernehmen, und Onno bleibt zurück an Land. Immerhin hat er dort seine Ruhe - bis die Flut einen kleinen Otter anspült, der einfach nicht mehr von seiner Seite weichen möchte ...
