বঙ্কিমচন্দ্র চট্টোপাধ্যায়-র লেখা আনন্দমঠ উপন্যাসটিকে অনেকেই 'রাজনৈতিক উপন্যাস' হিসেবে উল্লেখ করেছে। হিন্দু ভারতীয় জাতীয়তাবাদ এবং স্বদেশ-জিজ্ঞাসার সূচনা হিসেবে এই উপন্যাসটি এক ঐতিহাসিক ভূমিকা অর্জন করেছে। এই উপন্যাসটির মাধ্যমেই ভারতীয়রা পেয়েছিলো প্রথম দেশব্রতের দীক্ষা।
