Wolfram Köpke, Kriminalhauptkommissar bei der Polizei in Essen, fast Alkoholiker und ausgebrannt erbt ein kleines Haus in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Das nimmt er zum Anlass sein Leben neu zu ordnen. Er kündigt seinen Job und zieht um. Dort lernt er Nachbarin Silvia und ihre Familie kennen.
