Dr. Watson wird unerwarteter Weise von seiner Cousine Aethel Gastrell um Hilfe gebeten. Kurzerhand reist er zu ihr nach Sheffield, natürlich nicht ohne Sherlock Holmes Begleitung zu erbitten.
