Nach jahrelanger Funkstille erhält Dr. Watson den Brief einer gewissen Marjorie Beaumont, die ihn und Holmes dringend um Hilfe ersucht. Angeblich trachtet eine religiöse Gemeinschaft ihrem Onkel nach dem Leben und peinigt ihn mit Drohbriefen.
