A play by Mikhail Bulgakov, which describes the man-made end of the world as a result of a gas war. During a chemical war, the so-called chemical warfare gets out of control. Solar Gas and humanity dies, only a few people remain alive, now living in the commune. The play could not be published or staged during Bulgakov's lifetime. The censor's verdict was harsh: 'this play cannot be staged, since Leningrad is dying there.' It was first published in 1971, in Paris. It was released in the USSR in October 1987
