Tannau, Ende des Ersten Weltkriegs. Dorflehrerin Antonie Weber ist hoch geachteter und geschätzter Mittelpunkt des kleinen Bergdorfes. Einzig der neue Pfarrer macht ihr das Leben schwer. Wie erleichtert ist Antonie, als Sebastian, ihre große, unerfüllte Liebe, unversehrt aus dem Krieg heimkehrt.
