Gargamel überlegt verzweifelt, mit welcher Falle er die Schlümpfe fangen könnte. Er kommt auf den Gedanken, ihre natürliche Freundlichkeit auszunutzen: er verkleidet sich als gebrechlicher alter Mann, der hilferufend im Wald herumirrt. Aber es ist Norbert, ein stämmiger Holzfäller, der ihm als Erster zu Hilfe eilt.
