Jens Lerby ist Profiler in Kopenhagen und hasst die Kälte. Ausgerechnet er wird nach Grönland geschickt, in eine Gemeinde der Inuit, um bei einem grausamen Fall zu helfen: Ein Mann wurde offenbar von etwas wie Walrosszähnen durchbohrt. Schnell kommt unter den Inuit das Gerücht auf, ein Amarok, ein Mischwesen aus Walross und Wolf, sei für den Tod verantwortlich. Jens glaubt kein Wort davon. Bei seinen Ermittlungen hilft ihm die junge Inuit Pally. Als ein weiterer Mord geschieht und dunkle Nacht über der Eiswüste heraufzieht, beginnen Jens und Pally zu ahnen, dass der blutrünstige Amarok in Wahrheit ein Mensch aus Fleisch und Blut ist - und den Inuit eine noch viel größere Gefahr droht ...
