Brown calls not to use the threat of shame to push people towards change. Because it believes that the use of stigmatization with shame as a means of change results in severe psychological pain, and the resulting change does not continue forever. If the woman pushes to continue her marriage for fear of feeling disgrace, as she will become divorced, then this puts her under severe psychological pressure. She also will not tolerate her difficult life.
